SSSI CPD Program
The Institute offers members a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program, which has been designed to complement the busy professional. Working alongside current activities, the program allows for significant flexibility and incorporates all activities an individual may undertake to further their current skills and experience within the workplace.
The Program is a structured set of offerings that allows for flexibility so that members can develop and maintain high-value knowledge and practice.
The Program also seeks to protect the market reputation of their members, and ensure a high level of quality assurance can be supplied to all members of the community. The Professional Development Program upholds these requirements and adds greater credibility and reliance on the service spatial professionals provide.
All financial members are expected to participate in the program, receiving a number of intrinsic and extrinsic benefits:
- Insurance of currency of knowledge and skills
- Opportunity to be innovative and develop new ideas
- Enhancement of career progression
- Demonstration of commitment to lifelong learning
- Involvement in numerous networking opportunities with like-minded professionals.
Program STRUCTURE
Following a financial year (1 July – 30 June) format, the SSSI CPD Program recognises activities that enhance or promote productivity or efficiency of existing employment tasks and responsibilities.
The Policy recognises and considers all activities undertaken by an individual, provided they enhance existing currency of skills.

Requirements
SSSI Members are encouraged to achieve the following:
- Members, Fellows & Associates - 15 points per year
- Affiliates - 8 points per year
Retired and Student members are exempt from these requirements. Those members who undertake SSSI Certification or are registered with a regulatory body may also be exempt from the annual professional development requirements from SSSI.

Recording Your CPD
SSSI provides all members with the opportunity to record and manage their continuing professional development progress online. Members are encouraged to maintain their own CPD records for SSSI and non-SSSI events via the Members Portal. Please contact us if you have any issues accessing your member profile.
