This presentation is from Dipak Paudyal speaking on Driving towards our Digital Future – a practical Deep Learning Framework for Geospatial Applications.
With signifcant interest in the application of Deep Learning (DL) and Artifcial Intelligence
(AI) across many sectors, this presentation will help understand the principles of commonly applied techniques and identify those relevant to and easily adopted for location analytics and specific geospatial applications.
This presentation discusses one such solution: ENVI Deep Learning framework – a
powerful and flexible way to run Deep Learning applications on Geospatial data.
The framework empowers users to create and train DL models using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) such as Google’s TensorFlow. The presentation will look at how the technology makes a case for practical application in vegetation mapping, agriculture,
natural resources management and other areas of GIS.
Dipak has a strong background in the science of remote sensing and has worked in the industry for more than 25 years — in government, academia, and the private industry — advocating real-world and practical applications of the technology. He holds an adjunct associate professorship with University of Queensland and is dual-certified by Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute(SSSI) for GIS (GISP-AP) and Remote Sensing and Photogrammetry (RS&P). Dipak is also a member of Earth Observation Australia (EOA) working group. Dipak holds a PhD in remote sensing, a master’s degree in natural resources management and a bachelor’s in civil engineering. Dipak specializes in radar remote sensing and his current interests lie in the application of AI in remote sensing. Dipak has presented and published several blog posts on the use of Machine/Deep Learning/AI for Geospatial application.
