Rural Surveying Techniques, presented by Dale Atkinson, Atkinson Surveys.

Abstract

There are many wonderful talks at this conference on new exciting trends in spatial technology looking into the future. This presentation is in contrast to these in that the innovative methods look backwards into history. By documenting these methods, it allows future generation to gain the optimal information required to complete contemporary cadastral surveys following our predecessors of the mid to late 19th century. It highlights the weird and wonderful places that key cadastral information can be found in rural areas and practical methods to find and interpret it. This presentation was originally put together for graduate workshops in the North and Central regions, it
has been modified to fit the conference and demonstrates the methods through worked examples of recent projects.
