Join us to discuss the science and research application of Planet imagery. Earth observation or satellite remote sensing has been around for decades which has been remarkable for solving many problems on earth including long term environmental trends, oceanographic understandings such as sea surface temperatures and of course weather models. Planet has over 200 satellites orbiting around the entire world taking images of the Earth’s entire landmass. Since 2016 there have been 1000 publications that include Planet imagery. Planet’s imagery has helped the earth observation community produce exciting studies around sustainability, data fusion, and a wide range of scientific application.
Our speaker, Uday Govindswamy, explores the intersection between remote sensing technologies and business. Uday graduated from UCSD with a degree in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Earth Sciences from Scripps Institute of Oceanography. During his time in university he helped create a smog eating mural, and helped coordinate a full research effort associated with the project.
With Planet, Uday works with the federal government, education and research community, and helps cover the ANZ area. He has helped expand Planet's education and research program and contributes blog content to synthesize publications that use Planet data. In his time working with researchers globally Uday has had the incredible opportunity to learn from some of the best in the remote sensing business.
Outside of his day-to-day responsibilities with Planet, Uday is an avid surfer and hiking enthusiast.
