Webinar: Improving the Operation of ResCode
Date & Time

- 9:30 am
AEDT
Residential development in Victoria is controlled by residential development provisions and tools. While commonly known as ResCode the provisions aren’t a separate document; they’re included in all Victorian planning schemes and the Victorian Building Regulations.
The provisions are applied through the planning permit or building permit systems, and apply to:
- the construction of new dwellings
- alterations and extensions to existing dwellings
- residential subdivisions and
- apartment developments.
DEWLP has recently released a discussion paper on improving the operation of ResCode. They are seeking comment by December 17 2021.
A new Performance Assessment Model (PAM) is proposed with the aim of providing a more clear, certain and efficient way to assess planning permit applications under Rescode.
The PAM model appears to be following the approach that if a ResCode standard is met, then the objective is met. This is seen as an opportunity to establish a more consistent model for drafting discretionary provisions across the VPP’s and remove uncertainty about their operation.
It is proposed for this assessment model to have a wider application in the planning system.
Further details about the proposal can be downloaded HERE.
Join SSSI as we host speakers from Planning Reform team at DELWP who will provide a briefing on the new proposals.
