Postponed to November due to COVID issues.
Join us again for an RSPC Twilight Talk in South Australia: in 2022, a tour of the Australian Plant Phenomics Facility followed by networking drinks, proudly hosted the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide.
The Plant Accelerator (TPA) is a state-of-the-art plant growth and analysis facility with automated high throughput imaging and computing equipment for the continuous non-destructive measurement of plant phenotypes.
Plant phenotyping characterises plant traits important for plant breeding, such as growth, structure, disease resistance, stress tolerance and yield. Typically plant phenotyping is a expensive, time consuming and labour-intensive process. However, TPA makes use of automation and remote sensing to accelerate this process, reduce costs, and extract quantitative and reproducible data.
Visitors will be given a tour of these automation and sensing systems and given a brief presentation on how they contribute to TPA business.
The systems covered will include:
- Conveyor based automated transportation, imaging and watering system, including
- Visible, near infrared (NIR) and mid-infrared (MIR) hyperspectral imaging system
- Visible (RGB) 3D structural imaging system
- Drought-spotter load-cell based watering and water stress management system
- FieldExplorer field hyperspectral imaging platform
- X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging system.
