SSSI/OGC Webinar Series: Standards and Interoperability: business value and impact stories

Date & Time

Friday, 6 Nov 2020
10:00 am - 11:00 am AEDT

OGC is a worldwide community committed to improving access to geospatial (location) information. They connect people, communities, and technology to solve global challenges and address everyday needs. The organisation represents over 500 businesses, government agencies, research organizations, and universities united with a desire to make location information FAIR – Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.

The OGC community creates free, publicly available geospatial standards that enable new technologies. OGC also manages an agile and collaborative research & development process - the OGC Innovation Program - that anticipates and solves real-world geospatial challenges experienced by their members.

SSSI is proud to partner with OGC to present a four part webinar series from August to November:

  • Part 1 - Meet the OGC Leadership team
  • Part 2: The OGC Geospatial Technology Trends - Guiding the future of Location
  • Part 3: Modernizing the Location standards baseline - OGC APIs
  • Part 4: Standards and Interoperability: business value and impact stories

This session builds on the last three sessions of this series to showcase specific examples of OGC-based applications and activities in Australia and New Zealand. This session will be a collaboration between OGC staff and members from Australia and New Zealand highlighting the region's leadership in the geospatial field, the business value for interoperability and the unique use cases/challenges faced.

If you need to be inspired about the power of location, interoperability and collaboration, come listen to the impact stories in this session and ask any questions about lessons learned and future guidance!

Moderator
Chris Body

Chris joined OGC last year as their Australian/New Zealand representative, having been involved in Imagery & Geospatial Standards work since the mid-1990's. One of the many roles Chris had within the Australian Government and Geoscience Australia was to coordinate and manage its contribution to the various OGC standards work programs.

Chris continues to represent Australia on various International and ISO committees; including ISO/TC 211 – Geographic Information/Geomatics committee & ISO/TC 268 – Sustainable Cities and Communities, and an Australian & ISO delegate to the UN Global Geospatial Information Management (UNGGIM).
