Webinar: Underwater Photogrammetry – Challenges and solutions from ultra-close range to ROV applica
Date & Time

- 6:00 pm
This is the fifth instalment in our underwater mapping webinar series. Our speakers are Oliver Kahmen, M.Sc. and Robin Rofallski, M.Sc..
Underwater photogrammetry has become an evolving field in both research and industry for a wide variety of applications. These include the investigation of marine fauna and flora, inspecting off-shore-construction sites, archaeological tasks, just as navigation and orientation in underwater environments. In this context Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) and other unoccupied devices have become more important and also more accessible for a wide range of users from academia, industry and other disciplines.
This talk addresses several challenges in underwater photogrammetry such as calibration, illumination, camera adjustment and mathematical modelling and provides hands-on applications and solutions for both a system for underwater weld testing and ROV. A theoretical background and insights on best practices for several applications will be given and discussed. Furthermore, innovative research results from projects at Jade University of Applied Sciences in Oldenburg, Germany will be presented.
