Fire Mapping Workshop

The Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute proudly, in partnership with the NSW Rural Fire Service and in conjunction with Geoscience Austtralia, invites you and your colleagues to attend the Fire Mapping Workshop to be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 prior to the NSW Conference .

A number of interesting advances in remote sensing techniques and advanced computing are now making this task a prime candidate for automation.  It is expected speakers will discuss the methods and techniques in fire mapping, the latest uses of different satellite imagery, data used in fire behaviour and risk planning, as well as machine learning and automation.

The goal of the workshop is to discuss policy, science and agency practices used to undertake fire extent (or fire scar) and severity mapping. It will include the topics of:

›   Fire History maps

›   Fire Extent and Severity mapping (fire mapping)

›   Remote Sensing analysis techniques and other methods for undertaking fire mapping

›   Agency practices and methods for undertaking fire mapping

›   Use of fire mapping output in fire behaviour, risk planning, vegetation change, climate change, etc. and the associated government policy

We hope you can join us at this new informative and social workshop. Please find more details below.
