Bushfire Recovery : SA Volunteers Needed

January 13, 2020

The thoughts of SSSI are with the families and communities affected by the devastating bushfires around the nation and our local communities at Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island.

The SSSI-SA Land Surveying Committee would like to invite surveyors to assist with the recovery program by volunteering professional services. The rebuild program will require replacing fences in the current location, however in some circumstances surveying services will be required to re-establish title boundaries.

The SSSI in collaboration with the State Recovery Office, Office of the Surveyor General and Land Services SA is coordinating a response to calls for help and communicating the importance of preserving survey marks and other boundary evidence that has the potential to be destroyed in the initial clean up phase.

The successful Pinery Fire initiative demonstrated the positive contribution that our profession can make in support of landowners affected by the blaze.

Please contact SSSI-SA Regional Operations Manager Imogen Craig to register your support for the long recovery and rebuilding process in fire-ravaged Kangaroo Island and the Adelaide Hills.

SSSI-SA will coordinate when, where and what help is needed as the scope of our involvement develops. For further information on the disaster situation see https://dhs.sa.gov.au/services/disaster-recovery
