Young Professionals: Tour of Queen's Wharf
The YP Committee have organised an event being held on 10 May 2018: Young Professionals: Tour of Queen's Wharf.
Come along and join other surveying and spatial science young professionals on a tour of the Queen's Wharf site, followed by drinks at the Victory. Registrations close at midday on the event day, so register now!
The event is being kindly hosted by Bennett + Bennett, who have been privileged to be associated with the $3 billion Queen’s Wharf redevelopment, one of the most significant projects seen in Brisbane, let alone Australia in recent times.
SSSI FREE Student Membership
Streamlining student membership passed through the National YP meeting. This allows students to join free without some of the impediments that were holding them back. Part of this proposal was how we can continually engage with these students to make sure they become full members upon graduation. For further details please see SSSI Student Membership - Easier than ever to sign-up.

GNSS Workshop
The SSSI Queensland Land Surveying Comission held a successful GNSS workshop at Easts Leagues Club on Friday 20 April. Over 45 members and non-members had the opportunity to see live equipment in action and watch the data calculations undertaken on the software of their choice. Thanks to C.R. Kennedy, Position Partners and Ultimate Positioning Group for their support. We hope to repeat a similar practical workshop in Townsville and Cairns later in the year.

Advocacy Issues
Possible change to limitations of High Density Development Easements as defined in the Land Title Act 1994 (the Act).
Ewen Sneddon, the SSSI Qld LSC Chair, recently approached the Registrar of Titles and Registrar of Water Allocations, Elizabeth Dann, from the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy to request that SSSI be given the opportunity to provide feedback on the possible change to limitations of High Density Development Easements as defined in the Land Title Act 1994 (the Act). To see copy of letter click here.
SSSI will endeavour to provide feedback once received.
