Dear Friends,

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners of the 2017 Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards (APSEA) that took place during Locate ‘18 in Adelaide. The GeoSmart Asia – Locate ’18 conference concluded on a successful note on 11th April bringing in 700 delegates from Australia and overseas.

Before the conference, the Board of SSSI, the Regional Committee and Commission Chairs met to devise the strategy to take SSSI forward for the next three years. I was fortunate to attend this meeting to represent the SSSI NSW and ACT regions. The strategic roadmap will be released as a result of this meeting in a few months’ time, and I’m excited to see this evolve.

Thank you to Kei Nakakoji and Roshni Sharma for hosting a very successful URISA-Asset Management Workshop facilitated by Mr Tripp Corbin, Past President of URISA, on Friday, 13th April in Sydney. We received excellent feedback regarding this workshop, and we’ll continue to work hard on delivering more events and workshops to you this year. As always, we welcome your feedback on the type of events that you would like to see take place in NSW and ACT. Please contact myself or Kei with your feedback.

Kind regard,
Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse
