Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute celebrated International Women’s day at the National Surveyors house, Canberra, ACT along with Women in business ACT- Australia India Business Council, Professions Australia and Caddie . The evening was hosted by the SSSI leadership team in Canberra, the Chief Operating Officer for SSSI, Honey (Anna) Palathinkal along with President Elect Dr Zaffar Mohamed Sadiq Ghouse welcoming the gathering to an evening with women achievers across private sector, governments academia and peak bodies from the capital especially Women in Spatial.
With a gathering of 35 women across sectors, it was an evening to ‘Celebrate the colour of Versatility’. The event was built around the theme #IBuildMyWorld to prompt the very thought of how women across all sections of society have built their way out to achieve what they aspire and have dreamt about.
Eminent women speakers for evening
Ms Joy Burch, Hon Speaker for ACT Legislative Assembly, shared her perspective on growth of women and specifically women in STEM.
Ms Elizabeth Kikkert (MLA), gave an insight about how one can find happiness in giving back to the society and role of women in strengthening the community.
Ms Liz Lang -CEO Professions Australia mentioned about how inclination towards STEM must be inculcated in women right from their young age.
Ms Naba, our youngest speaker had shared a few words to share on her aspiration to pursue a career in STEM.
Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute take immense pride in hosting the evening of International Women’s day in rejoicing the spirit of womanhood. It was a meet and greet that resulted in social networking with women getting to know each other and exchanging insights from their journey so far and building a stronger future.
