There's a great opportunity coming up to spend the weekend hacking away on a project and meet new people - this is what GovHack is all about. Govhack does not specifically focus on spatial and surveying, but rather the innovative use of Open Data. It is a free fun and relaxed open data competition run on the weekend of 7-9 September across Australia, and in 46 hours teams create a project page, proof of concept and a video that tells the story of how government data can be reused.
The event is not sponsored or run by SSSI. This, however, does not stop us from getting involved and joining the fun. Some SSSI YP members will be registering to attend the hackathon and would be interested to know if anyone else is keen too. If you are interested to attend, let us know so we can all meet up and compete as a team. There will be limited spots and may be best to have around 4-7 people per team (we can always have multiple teams if lots of people are interested). You don't need to be a SSSI member or YP to attend or to join the "spatial" team :)
