The Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI) is proud to announce Mr Paul Digney has been appointed President of the Institute for a term of one year. Mr Digney is a passionate Tasmanian with over 25 years’ experience in the surveying and spatial profession. He has been actively involved with SSSI and its legacy organization’s for over two decades.

‘First I must acknowledge the years of dedicated service from SSSI’s outgoing President Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse. His passion for the industry is infinite and he has worked tirelessly over the past two years to ensure SSSI has a long and sustainable future,’ said Mr Digney.
SSSI would also like to acknowledge retiring National Directors Lee Hellen (Queensland), Rob Sarib (Northern Territory) and Richard Syme (Victoria).
‘Our retiring National Directors have diligently given their time and resources to SSSI for a number of years. Our achievements would not have been possible without their valued contributions,’ said Mr Digney.
SSSI also welcomes several new National Directors to the Board; Mr Andrej Mocicka (Victoria), Mr Dale Atkinson (Queensland), Ms Inga Playle (Tasmania) and Nicholas Brown (Australian Capital Territory).
‘New Directors bring new energy, ideas and enthusiasm to the Board. Collectively they have many years’ experience which will benefit SSSI significantly as we move forward,’ said Mr Digney.
A special meeting of the new SSSI Board has been convened and Dr Lesley Arnold (Western Australia) has been appointed the President-elect. Outgoing President Dr Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse was also appointed Company Secretary.
‘With our strong CEO, Tony Wheeler at the helm, our new Board, our talented staff and dedicated team of volunteers, SSSI has positioned itself to be a clear leader, skilfully representing the surveying and spatial community into the future,’ said Mr Digney.
