I hope you all have had a good start to 2021. Thankfully (touch wood!), Tasmania continues to do well managing our COVID risks and life is returning to the new normal after the holiday period.
The Tasmanian Regional Committee has already met to start planning local events for this year. I am pleased to let you know about two local face-to-face events in March to get along to.
Firstly, please come and help us celebrate the regional APSEA award winners for 2020 over a drink and some nibbles on the 4th March at the Salamanca Inn. Celebrating success and achievements is so important for all of us. It’s a great way to raise awareness of the great work we do and our raise our profile in our networks and organisations. So please come along and celebrate!
Secondly the Locate21 conference is going to be holding a ‘live’ site in Hobart on March 30th and 31st. This is another great opportunity to get together, network and reduce some of the webinar fatigue we have been feeling during COVID. There is a fantastic line up of speakers for the Locate conference – it’s definitely worth getting along to, either in person at our live site or attending the conference virtually.
With regards to other events, as in previous years we are planning to bring to you the State of GIS in May and our annual conference in September.
To mark International Women’s Day in March I am looking forward to speaking at the IWD21 Webinar – Women in Surveying. The webinar hopes to increase the visibility of our profession, provide diverse role models and encourage and inspire the pursuit of a career in the profession to all.
Lastly, if you have any ideas or feedback on how your Tas Regional Committee can improve in our delivery of regional membership services I would love to hear from you. We also always welcome additional help and volunteers whatever your capacity is (which could be for an individual event and not a long-term commitment). Please drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
