On behalf of the Regional Committee and Chair, I wish to advise that the Events Calendar for the remaining half of the year is now populated with events, which are also planned for regional areas as well as in Melbourne. Please see below or visit this link for further details.
Our premier event for the year, the SSSI Victorian Surveying & Spatial Summit will be held on Friday 5 October at the RACV Club in Melbourne, a fine venue. We will be holding a number of streams and Vendors will be able to present their products in the newly renovated Exhibition Area. Further details will be available soon. We are also currently negotiating a heritage related presentation at another venue on Saturday 6 October, dependant on renovations.
The Asia Pacific Spatial Excellence Awards – Victoria (APSEA-Vic) which recognise individual and business excellence, will be held on the preceding evening of Thursday 4 October. Nomination details will be released shortly.
The RACV Club also has discounted accommodation available to those attending the Summit and wishing to spend the weekend in Melbourne
The Tasmanian Region will be holding their Surveying and Spatial Conference at the Launceston Country Club in Launceston and will run for a full day on Friday the 14th of September. The TSSC is followed by the Tasmanian Spatial Excellence Awards dinner. There will be also be informal networking opportunities on Thursday night prior to the event.
The theme for the conference is Positioning Property People Now and has been selected to focus on the new positioning paradigm, in particular the opportunities presented by the NPI announcements, and the convergence with the modernisation of digital cadastres and what this all means. These topics have common interest and Victorian members are encouraged to attend and the SSSI Tas Regional Committee look forward to seeing you at this year's event. This is an opportunity to meet with a neighbouring region who have similar issues and problems as we do. Look out for further announcements of the conference program and early bird registrations very soon.
The Victorian Parliament Environment & Planning Committee is currently holding hearings and inviting submissions as part of their inquiry into the proposed commercial leasing of the Titles Office. SSSI is participating in this inquiry with submissions closing at the end of this week.
