Locate18 & GeoSmart Asia 18

Locate 18 has arrived!  I do hope that I will see many of you in Adelaide, because the conference not only promises some great content, but also a different conference experience.  If we consider that one of the primary goals of the conference is to offer continuing professional development to our members, this one delivers!  I am especially interested in some of the topics around Artificial Intelligence and Smart Cities, but also the very practical discussions around GDA2020.

When people ask me what we (SSSI community) do, I often say that we measure and locate 'stuff', we manage the data from that 'stuff', and we make location sense of the stuff that we measure.  The stuff we measure helps almost every other industry to make sense of their own data.  Well, at this Locate you will also here people from other industries talk about how this helps them.  This includes people from the Health Industry, Agri-Business and various levels of Government.

We will do something new this year - there is an 'Interaction Zone' that promises a different conference experience.  Here you will be able to rub shoulders with different leaders in our field.  We are going 'Orbital'!  'In the zone' will be female leaders such as Mary-Ellen Feeney and Shelley Fitzgerald.  There are leaders from the Australian Space industry.

We also make an effort to reach out to others in our own industry and use the opportunity to have round-table discussions.  Represented this year will be leaders from URISA, ASEAN FLAG, ISNSW, ISVIC and ACS NSW.

Don't miss out - do come along!  You can also keep in touch by SSSI Australia Twitter Feed - @SSSI_AU
