NT Spatial Conference

In 2011 and 2012 the Northern Territory Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute held a regional conference NT Spatial.

NT Spatial 2012: Northern Exposure "Science and Applications".

The conference was held in Darwin from 21-23 March 2012. The overall theme of this event was Northern Exposure 'Science and Applications'. The theme encapsulated the isolated nature of northern Australia and the immediate region, and also the challenges, technical issues and experiences of surveyors and spatial scientists who work in this environment. Hence through NT Spatial 2012 we brought a greater level of exposure to all the great scientific research, projects and innovative applications being delivered by the surveying and spatial community in the northern region of Australia and in the south eastern parts of Asia. NT Spatial 2012 brought together spatial scientists, surveyors, land information professionals, technicians, administrators and managers to meet and exchange ideas. The three day event included:

  • one day of workshops
  • a two day symposium of scientific, technical and administrative presentations
  • vendor exhibits
  • keynote speakers
  • a conference dinner
  • the NT's first spatial awards night
