SSSI WA Conference 2016
The 2016 Western Australian Surveying and Spatial Sciences Conference was held at the University Club on Friday 21 October.
Surveying & Spatial Sciences - Driving Future Economies.
The Western Australian Surveying and Spatial Sciences Conference is the signature event on the surveying and spatial sciences calendar in Western Australia each year and explores future trends for land surveying, engineering & mining surveying, hydrography, and companion spatial science fields including cartography, spatial information, remote sensing, photogrammetry and the emerging location based technologies.
The program built significantly on last years theme Positioning for Today. The 2016 theme Driving Future Economies recognised the broad contribution of the surveying and spatial industry to the Australian and global economy, environment and society. Topics included:
- Land surveying tomorrow
- Sustainable urban development
- Smarter farming and precision agriculture
- Intelligent transport and driverless technology
- Disruptive changes in the delivery of land registries
- Innovation and start-ups in spatial technology
- Success stories in expanding the adoption of spatial technologies
The Conference created opportunities for participants and sponsors to share experiences, and explore and debate new directions.
Participants gained from the expertise of highly experienced presenters while learning about cutting-edge advances including relevant and interesting case studies; together with business networking opportunities. Surveyors and Spatial professionals experienced a hands-on look at new equipment and technology; and took the opportunity to connect with other professionals, exhibitors, businesses and government in a relaxed, friendly, sociable environment.
WASSSC 2016 partnered with the WA Spatial Excellence Awards dinner held on 4 November 2016.
WASEA showcases the best in our profession and also focussed on the WASSSC theme- Driving Future Economies. WASEA is hosted in collaboration with SSSI industry partner SIBA.
