Roshni Sharma

Chair

Roshni is the Chair of the SSSI YPs and has been since 2018. She works as a GIS Specialist for Umwelt (Australia), a renowned Australian-owned environmental consultancy based in the Hunter. She has a background in spatial analysis grounded in environmental science and management. Roshni is passionate about creating opportunities for students and young professionals in the spatial sciences to pave the way forward for their careers, and is looking forward to an exciting and innovating year for the YP's in 2019.

Fletcher Heywood

Fletcher Heywood

NSW Representative

Fletcher is a GIS Analyst for JBS&G, a nation-wide, Australian owned environmental consultancy and has 3 years’ experience in the industry. He has been a member of SSSI since 2013 while studying Spatial Sciences and Environmental Management at Macquarie University. Fletcher Is passionate about improving the connectivity and knowledge sharing between members of the community and helps organise GeoRabble, a professional event where members of the spatial science community come to speak in a relaxed and fun environment.

Richard Syme

Richard Syme

Former YP Chair

Richard has been a member of the SSSI since 2013. He has volunteered with the Young Professionals since 2014 and completed his tenure with YP’s with a stint as Chair on the National YP Committee. In December 2016 he was appointed to the SSSI Board, representing Victoria. Richard studied Multimedia Cartography at RMIT University and currently works as a GIS Professional in the Engineering and Construction industry. Richard is passionate about raising awareness of the spatial profession and working to provide practical development opportunities for all SSSI members.

Marvin Ma

Marvin Ma

QLD Representative

Marvin Ma is a professional surveyor with over 7 years experience and in-depth understanding of the surveying industry. He was elected as a Young Professional Representative of QLD in 2018. He graduated on 2011 with a 4-year surveying degree in China and has enjoyed working in China, Singapore and Australia. He is an active member of The Surveying & Spatial Science Institute and a committee member of QLD's Regional Committee.

Tom Jeffrey

Tom Jeffrey

SA representative

Tom brings with him a real passion for the industry and a sense of pride in our history. He is committed to the industry as Chair of the SSSI-SA YP committee, member of the SSSI-SA Regional committee as well as the Surveying and Mapping SA educational committee. Tom is a Licensed Surveyor in Adelaide, currently owning a Surveying and Land Development Consultancy, 360 Surveying.

Dan Reimers

Dan Reimers

NT representative

Dan finished the 3 year Bachelor of Spatial Science Degree in 2011 and became a Grade 2 Authorised Mining Surveyor. In 2018 he completed the 4th year of the Bachelor of Spatial Science Degree and is now in a Professional Training Agreement with the Northern Territory Government to become a Licenced Cadastral Surveyor.

Briallen Frisken

Briallen Frisken

TAS Representative

Briallen completed the Bachelor of Environments (Geomatics) and Master of Engineering (Geomatics) at the University of Melbourne in 2013. She then worked in at two private firms as a surveyor in Melbourne where she commenced a Professional Training Agreement. She was also a member of the Survey Taskforce in Victoria. In 2018 she relocated to Tasmania where she is now working with the Office of Surveyor General and hopes to continue her training to become a registered cadastral surveyor.

Michael works as a Surveyor for Veris Australia based in Brisbane. Michael is currently undertaking the QLD surveyors board cadastral endorsement. Michael is passionate about advocacy of surveying and spatial sciences, encouraging young bright minds into the profession. He volunteers his time with SSSI and various educational institutes with the goal of spreading the exciting opportunities surveying and spatial sciences have to offer
